Good To Have you back Mr.Bhogle

“And what a shot that is ..” … Trademark shot it might be from sachin. But also is a trademark comment from the master – Harsha Bhogle!

Star Cricket is here. A much needed channel, dedicated to cricket, for cricket fanatics like me. And heading the commentary team is the legend himself.

I was amongst those who were particularly disappointed to see the presentations during the world cup. With people like Mandira Bedi talking about cricket, I chose to join the matches directly rather than watching the pre match analysis. But there sure was something missing. The wholeness of watching a cricket match is to watch the whole package. And with Harsha doing it, you can be rest assured that you will get nothing less than the best,

What makes him so special? After all it is no big deal to talk about cricket, right? …Hell wrong. Sony came up with their team and initially Mandira was asking the “experts” what a googly was. I understand they wanted to bring in the female population too. But honestly it is demeaning to the worst cricket follower to watch such crap. And Harsha has mastered the art. And has made a class of his own, in cricket commentary. An inspirational story of a chemical engineer, following his passion in life, Harsha’s life can be a classic example of how to get a job that you love. And you realize what art the man possesses when you hear people like Arun Lal and Ranjith Fernando doing cricket commentary.

I don’t know what is it with the graduates from IIM, they have to leave what they are trained for and have to follow what they are passionate about. Harsha is one among them and I would curse him only for wasting anther candidate’s chance to get into the IIM
: ). He came into the notice of cricket lovers when he first commentated in the Benson & Hedges world cup, back in 1992. And after that there has been no looking back. They can have a show called “Harsha ki khoj”. But I am not sure they are going to find one. Just a few examples of his versatility: -

“Oh what a shame. It was reminiscent of a soldier who survived the war when all the bullets were flying by his nose and then got run over by a bicycle in his native town."

"Naser Hussain is trying desperately hard to find innovative ways of getting himself out"

"Had that stand not been there they would have had to bring a bus to go and fetch the ball"

"If you take out the character out of Nel he is quiet a good bowler!!!!"

“Last time Rudi kuerzten smiled there was peace in west Asia

I can quote a thousand more gems that he has said. But you know what. I would rather listen to him live and direct from Lords as the match unfolds. A cup of coffee, Ind Vs Eng at Lords and Harsha Bhogle commenting … Priceless!!!!
